Planning a holiday to Benodet by Claire Share
I am planning a family & friends trip to Benodet next year (2014) to Camping Escale St Gilles in May. My husband and I have visited this site numerous times over the last 12 years with our children - the first time we went was when our eldest now 17 was 5 years old. Over the years when returning, there has always been activities and entertainment to suit their ages. The site is very safe for them to play around, either at the park, pool or around your caravan. Its a very clean well presented site with lots of friendly people.
The Matthews Holidays reps are always at hand and easy to find in their onsite caravan, if you wish for their advice or assistance - always happy, helpful people.
We all can't wait to return next year, where there will be 6 adults, one 17 year old, 2 x 16 year olds, 2 x 11 year olds, and one 8 year old.
While on holiday here we always have a walk along the beach into Benodet where you will find lots of cafe's, restaurants and souvenir shops. The beach is a must - lovely golden sand which streches for miles - my children spend hours here usually very early in the morning when all the little crabs are sat in the rock pools. (not for very long I may add, as my 10 year old son likes to explore them)
On a Monday there is also a market in Benodet square. This has been a blast for all - really worth a look as you will find lots of local fresh produce.
We also often take a drive to Concarnau which is about 45 mins from the site. Here you will find a walled town which is truly amazing, filled with handmade souvenir shops, cafes, local produce, amazing chocolate & meringue shops and ice cream parlours to die for (every flavour you can dream of). There is also a museum all about the fishing industry which took place here for many years and still does to this day. They hold a festival here in August which is a must see when visiting at that time of year, where locals dress up and live music plays.
